I've got an old Lenovo ideapad 100 that's about 8 years old. It has windows 10. It works fine except that it isn't installing updates anymore and has been stuck on 35% updates installed for months. It's an issue I don't know how to fix. My question is will this prevent my external drive working properly? I bought it in January and it's an origbelie. It's successfuly burned a few CDs and dvds but overnight it started having issues. The last two CDs had distorted sound on the last two tracks and the last dvd I burned ignored the first three files on the list and only burned the last file. Is this likely to be a fault with the external drive or my old laptop? I've been using the cdburnerxp I installed online. It may be time for a new laptop anyway.. Thanks.

What version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you currently on?

This says you have either a 250GB HDD or a 500 GB HDD or a 1TB HDD, which one do you have? Alongside an SSD. Can you pass on a screenshot of what you see in Disk Management?

Have you tried recreating your bootable USB installer for the OS and reinstalling said OS?

To answer your question, it shouldn't hinder your ability to access the external drive.
