Im curently looking at a new monitor and have decided on the 27" MSI Optix MAG27CQ QHD Curved 144Hz Gaming Monitor with Height Adjust.

It is a 27' 144hz with a resolution of 2560x1440 and cost $600 aud ($450 usd) .

Specs:
Motherboard: Asus Prime B250M-K
CPU: i5-7500 @3.4ghz
CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1060 3gb
RAM: DDR4 16gb Kingston Hyper X Fury @2133mhz

My graphics card says it supports 8K but it being a 1060 3gb and not a 6gb I know I wouldnt get 144fps on all games but atleast over 60 which my current monitor is.

It would be great if someone could tell me if it worth while buying and how much value I would get out of the monitor.

Solution
Your PC should be able to play AAA games at that resolution with an FPS in your range. GTAV will probably at full graphics quality run at 60-70 FPS. Tomb Raider will probably run at an average of 50 with spikes to 60-70.

But wouldn’t I also be able to lower the resolution down to 1080p and get more frames?
And is it worth my money?
Your answer was pretty helpful as well

Of course lowering your resolution from 1440p to 1080p will increase the frames in some way. In your question is it worth your money is subjective it depends on what qualities of the monitor you care about and which you don't. One thing to note is that the monitor has AMD adaptive sync aka freesync so your 1060 will not support that technology. So other than that what is it that you care about in that monitor and what could you care less for?
