Hey guys im planning on upgrading my graphics card and im considering the GTX 760 and im not sure if my CPU is going to work good with it or the rest of the parts in my PC. This is my first time upgrading my PC so anything helps. Also Im on a tight budget.

PC specs currently:
Graphics card- nivida gt 640
CPU- AMD Athlon II X4 640
RAM- 8GB
OS- WIndows 7 64 bit
Motherboard- Biostar A780L3B
Power supply- 450 watt (Already going to replace with a 500 watt)

I hope I provided enough info, Thanks

The Athlon X4 860K requires an FM2+ socket board. The Athlon II X4 640 is from an earlier generation that uses an AM3 socket.

@ OP
There will be some bottleneck in CPU limited games, but you should still be OK. The GTX 750 Ti or R7-265 would probably be closer to a more balanced combination.

Your PC can handle it but you will see a bottleneck in newer games on higher settings and to be safe i would go for a 550 WATT or 600 WATT Power Supply.but for the most part Your pc can handle it.

What would be the best low price processor for the 760 then? I looked into the the 750ti and I saw that the gtx660 is better then the 750ti. opinons on that?

Your board's socket will limit you to AM3 processors. Those are all gone. You can still find them used on ebay. A Phenom II X4 955BE or 965BE would be the best. 970BE, 975BE, and 980BE processors are scarce and expensive when you can find one.
