Yes. It's 6 cores should keep up in nearly all games. The 6300, although somewhat outdated is still a pretty solid gaming processor. A 1060 should work well. But anything more (gtx 1070/80/80ti) might be pushing the CPU boundaries.

You might be right but the 7700K is over triple the price+mobo. I think he might wanna get by with the 6300 for now.

Very funny. Because in your opinion his existing platform will bottleneck a few cpu intensive games by a few fps that a new platform would be best. I agree with that a$$e$$ment but it's not critical right away. I think he just wants the gfx for now.

I got the r7 370 2gb and I think i'll get a little fps boost before I buy new ram+motherboard+cpu,
