I have an ASUS Z87-Plus and corsair vengeance 8gb ram. I wanted to get an after market cooler and the Cooler master hyper 212 evo looked like the perfect one for me. The only thing is will it fit without blocking out those ram slots

If your RAM has 'cooling fins' the cooler fan will block the slot closest to the CPU.
There are a couple of options though.
You can put the fan on the other side, for a pull configuration.
You can slide the fan up a little to clear that first RAM slot
You can rotate it 90 degrees with the fan blowing up
The hyper 212 evo and 212+ can both have the fan rotated to the front of the cooler in case they cant be adjusted high enough to clear the ram.Unless you have lowprofile vengeance you will more than likely need to do this. There is no performance difference.
