[SOLVED] Will my wifi card be compatible with my motherboard and router?

  • Router: Netgear nighthawk ac2300 - model: r7000p
  • Modem: Arris SURFboard SB183 - model: SB6183
  • Motherboard: msi b450 tomahawk max
  • PSU: corsair rm650x
  • Wifi card: (Haven't yet bought though) tp-link ax3000
  • OS: Windows 10

  • ISP & Connection type: Comcast & wireless wifi
  • Devices: 3 smart TVs, 2 iPhones, 1 Laptop, 1 Desktop PC, 1 Xbox- (Normally only one TV, a phone, and a pc are on at a time though)

Key will be can you physically get the card in your case. Your motherboard has pcie slots. I think the card will even go in the very short ones. You need to check this if you plan to use those. All depends where you have your video card and what other stuff might be in the way in the case. If you can get it plugged into a slot it will work.

Even though this is the newer 802.11ax (wifi6) card it will still talk to your router. It of course will not be able to use any of the new features until you replace your router with a wifi6 router. It likely makes little difference for most people the 802.11ac stuff is more than fast enough.

Since you somehow are able to get to the internet now just download the driver to your...

Thanks, and the way I have internet right now is via my laptop, and just to confirm, will I be able to download the drivers on my laptop, put them on a usb, then put them on my pc and have it work?
