Will ram block CPU cooler?

So, recently I bought a new AMD Fx-8350 and the stock fan is extremely loud. I am thinking about getting an aftermarket cooler for it. My only concern is if my Corsair Vengeance RAM will fit with some of the fans I've looked at (they're kind of tall and I can't tell whether they will fit underneath the heat sink) If anyone knows a fan that will fit and is relatively quiet I'd be thankful for suggestions.

Ya mean besides the H110 ? .... that's pretty much the only AIO that I can be in the same room with .... though the Antec Kuhler's also run quiet while outperforming their competitors. As for air coolers....

Check ya MoBo compatibility here

But be aware fans are not PWM so will either run full speed or ya have to use a controller of connect to a CHA header on MoBo and use FanXpert2 (Asus Boards) Speedfan or BIOS control

Yeah I have the second ones with the things that "look cool" Lol I didn't realize when I bought them that would cause a problem.

If you see humor here, I can only conclude that you are not aware but RAM height is a critical factor in which CPU coolers will fit. OP said was using Vengeance but did not qualify which set.... that kinda matters. In order to intelligently answer the OP's question, it is critical to know which of the two types was in use. As was clearly stated in my my message....

-If OP has low profile Vengeance RAM as shown in the 1st link, it will work with just about any cooler and his choices are wide.
-If OP has the Vengeance with the tall heat sinks, as shown in the 2nd link, the selection is more problematic and his choices are limited.

Kinda like you are buying a new CPU for a existing motherboard .... only way to answer would be to say qualify it by saying "well if ya have socket ...."

Yes, back in the ole days of DDR2, they actually were useful.... but DDR3 runs so cool, they are unnecessary at rated speeds. Most coolers will clear the lower profile memory which if memory serves is 40mm.

Might like this one ... works well .... but on 1155/1156

The AIOs are a workable solution but frankly, I'm not a fan as they too noise.... however the H110 performs just as well as the Noctua DH-14 and almost as good as the Phanteks.

So, can you recommend a fan that is relatively quiet (being the main reason I'm replacing my fan) , and will fit with my ram?

That is why I recommended 2 coolers with a high clearance.
I just thought you where telling him to get shorter RAM. Heheheh My bad! :)

So the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 will clear my ram? Cause if it will I think I might pick it up, read some reviews and people say its good. Seems like it would be pretty quiet too.

I'm not sure which is why I suggested looking at their compatibility charts. I did note in looking to today the the C12P-SE14 has the high RAM clearance logo.
