So I’ve been wondering, if Ray Tracing can get better with optimization? By that I mean will you be able to get more frames with better game support for Ray Tracing or is it completely based on the power of your gpu? Because I’ve seen people saying they skipped buying the RTX 20XX Series for that reason, but wouldn’t Ray Tracing optimization be able improve your frames? And if that’s the case wouldn’t it just come down to the time you have to wait for it to get better?

Might that mean that the RTX Series right now, aren’t that bad of an investment compared to a 5700 XT?

it depends on how you want to look at it. we are very close with next gen console now. will you keep your card for two years or more? if more then nvidia RTX probably will be a better investment overall. DLSS is just a side bonus for nvidia GPU. i think it is more important to look at all current RTX GPU are DX12 ultimate compliant which is feature that will most likely going to be pushed hard once game start being develop exclusively for next gen console. the primary highlights (for marketing purpose) of DX12 ultimate will be RT no doubt. but i personally think the other three DX12U ultimate will be more important going...
the RT itself simply that demanding. but it was significantly more extreme demanding without hardware acceleration like what nvidia did with their RT core. hence nvidia also try to push for DLSS. for DLSS yes they can significantly improve in the future due to better optimization when the AI learns more. problem is DLSS still need to be implemented in games.

AMD will only support this feature with their upcoming RDNA 2. so RTX 20 series supporting all this feature might be able to give them performance advantage against AMD current RDNA GPU in the future. and if the game also supports DLSS 2.0 it can give nvidia serious advantage in performance.

but if you're buying now and thinking only want to keep it for two years and less then there might no specific advantage between AMD and nvidia right now except for DLSS.
