I recently bought an ASUS m5a78l-m LX Plus Motherboard and an AMD FX 6300 processor. The computer did not boot into the BIOS. I read on another thread that its that the BIOS version is too old to support the processor, and to update it I would need to use an older processor. I want to verify this is true and I also want to know if the AMD Sempron 140 would help me get into the BIOS and update it. Also if you can please add a list of some Processors that would work with the old BIOS version. Thanks a lot

Update> I fixed the problem... Im actually posting the message from the PC i just built... I was stupid enough to not realize that the 12v ATX power supply wasnt connected... The processor had no power so it didn't run... Anyway its fixed now, thanks for trying... My stupidity took over, I apologize for any inconveniences... I just didn't pay attention

Yeah I just bought it, but it still wont boot the BIOS.
Mobo: Asus m5a78l-m LX Plus
CPU: AMD FX 6300
GPU: Currently using the integrated Mobo GPU
PSU: Corsair CX600
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB

The Motherboard LED turns on and all the case fans and processor fans turn on perfectly fine but the BIOS wont start

It would be a real shame to buy another CPU just to get the CPU you want to run working on a board that sucks to begin with and shouldn't be used to power anything but the Sempron in the first place.

Unless it's very old-stock (where did you buy the board?), the board should work with the 6300 out of the box, but I would not expect good results. WEAK VRMS!!!

----------

Exchange the board for a GA-78LMT-USB3, don't waste your time with the sempron.

I got the board on Amazon and there is no way for me to exchange the board. I live in a country where there are electronic stores that supply this. Shipping takes months for me so I wanna buy the right product. It pisses me off that I bought the board and it says AM3+ ready but the BIOS wont show... Maybe its something else? could it be?

There's a good chance you were sent an old-stock board. I don't know how "amazon" would handle that sort of deal where you are. I suspect they have distribution warehouses all over the world, and of course, they also have all those 3rd party affiliates so you may not have even ordered "direct" from amazon, so to speak. The BIOS revision that supports the FX-6300 was available in Sept 2013. If the product had been sitting in stock somewhere since before that timeframe, then it would not support the 6300 out of the box. The board has been around since ~2011.

Before buying a sempron....

If your memory is a 2x4GB kit, try with just 1 stick at a time.

Try a different monitor or way of connecting video to the motherboard video.

Unplug the machine, Remove the battery from the motherboard for about 5 minutes. re-install it, plug back in, try again.

unplug any SATA devices and try again.

make sure the 4-pin EPS CPU power plug is connected to the motherboard.

Make sure the 4-pin CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan header on the motherboard, and not any other header.
