I have asus b360 m e tuf gaming
I5 8500
Gigabyte 2080 super
16 gb 2400 corsair i think

Wondering if i will get more fps boost by going extra 16gb and 2600 which is maximum what my motherboard supports.

I play 1440p all ultra on 74hz overclocked monitor and dont mind 50-75 fps

Where are you finding this data?

I dont have to, as there are facts that prove the difference is a lot more than you think.

In Far Cry 5 at 1440p an I5 8400 gets 99fps in FC5 and an 8700k gets 124fps, according to this benchmark with an RTX2080. You may see even more of a benefit from a better CPU since you have a superior GPU that would stress the CPUs even further.

?

Plus in some games the FPS are over 60-80 range like rainbox six. Since my monitor is 74Hz why would I need to buy a better CPU?

I got advised here to get at least i7 7700 when buying RTX 2080. Then I checked reviews, it turned out that i5 8500 and i7 7700 are almost the same in performance and in some cases i5 even outperformed.

It seems as there is always going to be some sort of bottleneck as the other expert was explaining. Since GPU progressed more then CPU's

Plus this review was i5 8400 not 8500 which is stronger then 8400. Yes no?

You literally said you arent happy with your performance, yet you say you dont want to upgrade. I dont get it.

I did? Sorry but where did I say that? I was just wondering if getting more ram with more clock (maximum 2600 i can do) will boost my fps a bit more without changing CPU and/ or motherboard

I am quite happy with my performance and dont mind 55-70 fps range in some games.

To get more out of my card, i need to get 8700, i get that. But with my CPU there is no major bottleneck as my monitor is 60Hz, overclocked to 74. Had I have 144mhz, this would be another conversation

And thats considering that I am planning to play 4k in some games like Creed Black flag or 3 or GTA5 and see how it is.

They why are you changing anything, let alone a component that will basically yield no benefit?

I was asking. Since you guys anwered my question that it wont give anything significant, then I will just leave it as it is. Just thought throwing extra 16Gb and faster RAM will do the job

Plus somebody from here also advised me to get faster ram to benefit my CPU. But then you told me Intel doesnt really get affected by RAM speed as much as AMD

Thanks anyway. When Time comes, I will just change to 8700k and run with that. Or change monitor and see.

And even lower with a game that is GPU bound, however it is still not a good idea to pair a $65 board with a $500 CPU.

Hey. I know its a bump but I actually paired my B360m-e motherboard with a 8700k. I am not overclokcing it but I just bought it cheap. It definatly made a difference in FPS over my i5 8500

The spec say my motherboard can handle the power draw. Any way I can check if my clock speeds reduce as you mentioned? Is MSI Afterburner a good way to find out?

I am currently playing Far Cry 5 on 1440p with 1.4 Resolution modifier and RED DEAD 2 at 1440p with 1.25 modifier.

Thanks
