This is something that i was thinking about and i don't know what to do .
So i have
1. Ram memory : XMS3 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit Rev. B
2. Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-Z68P-DS3
3. Hard disk Seagate : 1TB SATA-III 7200 RPM 64 MB Barracuda
4. Power Supply : Zalman ZM500-GS 500W
5. Video Card : ASUS GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 256-bit ( Not OC )
6. Processor Intel Core i5 3470 3.20GHz box
7. DVD-Writer Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE bulk black
8. SSD : KingMax SMU32 Client Pro 120GB SATA-III 2.5 inch
So i was planing on upgrading my case to a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe . So i said " Why not upgrade the motherboard so i can make the color fit to my white case . So i searched for white motherboards that are compatible with my CPU . I found none that i could like . Then i said how about i change my CPU too . So i searched for the new Skylake processors and i found a cool motherboard that fits my build that has the 1151 socket (Z170-A) . Then i searched for new RAM (16GB 2x8 DDR4 HyperX Fury) . Cool i got everything . But then i saw a youtube video with Pascal in the title . So i did som research and i found that the new Pascal architecture is going to be a lot better than the Maxwell . And i was thinking about something .
If i get a new motherboard (Z170-A) and my new processor (6700K) with the DDR4 Ram . Am I going to be able to use a Pascal GPU with my Z170 Motherboard ?I don't know wthat this NV-Link is all about but im guessing that is a new socket for the GPU and because the Z170-A has the PCIe 16 socket im guessing that i won't be able to use a Pascal GPU in my build .
So should i wait for the new motherboards and get the CPU,RAM.. then or should i go with the Z170 and not care about Pascal . I also wanted to upgrade to a GTX 980TI after i get everything else.
