WIll the Evga Gtx 960 ssc 4gb play at 2560 x 1080?

Solution

As I recommend to most people considering the GTX 960, it is an awkward card for nvidia. There is a pretty huge performance gap between the GTX 960 and the GTX 970, but the price point leans toward the middle. My suggestion for a better card for your money is the amd r9 280x (about the same price) amd r9 290 (about the same performance as a GTX 970 but cheaper) or straight up a GTX 970. Those card will do a much better job playing high settings on that res.

Yeah it would be fine for minecraft, but minecraft is also a CPU heavy game. What cpu do you have? I would still consider going with a different GPU then the GTX 960. Here is a list:

AMD R9 280X about 10% better then the GTX 960 $179 after $30 MIR http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9280xtdfd

AMD R9 290 massively more powerful on par with the GTX 970 $242 after $30 MIR http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9290aedbd

Here are benchmarks as a reference. BTW the AMD R9 290X is about 3-4fps better then the R9 290.

still a pretty decent CPU if you over clock it. I would for minecraft, but that might mean getting a better CPU cooler. I would still get something other then the GTX 960.
