Will the new Doom run better on Intel--again?

3D engines designed by id have universally had two things in common:
1: They favor Intel processors.
2: They like CPU speed, unlike games like Aquanox whose performance is almost entirely dictated by the power of the graphics card.

Has anyone heard anything specific enough regarding Doom 3 to speculate whether this pattern will continue?

Absurd! Q3A likes higher memory bandwidth, this is why 533 MHz FSB P4's perform that good in Q3A. Previously AMD was performance champ in Q3A because it's memory performance wa better than P3. IMO, id game engines like AMD CPU's more than Intel. Quake II was one of the few games which K6-2 was able to beat P2 with 3D Now! support.

According to John Carmack, Doom III will depend on graphics card more than CPU

Doesn't that pretty much boil down to the same thing, since Intel processors have higher memory bandwidth? I'm not saying Carmack intentionally writes the engine to perform better for Intel, but I'm saying it has worked out that way more often than not, especially with P4.

Most id games favors Nvidia's gpu.

What does that have to do with AMD/Intel CPU's?

Anyway, I read somewhere that the game will be multithreaded so the P4 may have another edge there. But if the game is mostly GPU dependent it wont matter for the first year or so.

most work done by the cpu is on AI. So if graphics is concerned, video card must work for it. I think the game will favor Intel's.
