Current RAM kit and timings(build is in signature): https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...t---Blue/p/CMK16GX4M4A2666C16B#tab-tech-specs (16-18-18-35)

The 2 I'm considering: *Corsair vengeance lpx only, as the kits with those fancy heatspreaders will cause clearance issues with the D-15.

https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...it---Red/p/CMK32GX4M4B3200C14R#tab-tech-specs (appears to have the tightest timings available according to the QVL, at 14-16-16-36)

The memory is what I cheaped out on when I initially put together this x299 build. Memory prices were bloody stupid at the time.
If neither of these offer any real benefit, then I get to save that $$$ for something else.
This would be a no brainer if I were on Ryzen.

What do you do with the system?

Tighter timings can be beneficial in certain situations, but "noticeable improvements" depends on the use case.

Similarly, you're comparing a 4x4GB kit to a 4x8GB kit. If your workloads max out 16GB of RAM, then upgrading from a capacity standpoint would be more beneficial than from a timings perspective.
