Hello, i have a rx 580 and a i5 4460 on a gigabyte H81M-S2PT, i was wondering if i replaced the mother board and the CPU because the CPU is too weak for the GPU

Gigabyte z97 + i7 4790, would it run the system fine without bottlenecks or anything?

Thanks!

Hello so you aren't gonna like this answer there will always be a bottleneck in your system no system can be perfect what you can do is minimize the bottleneck I am unsure about the CPU as I am more familiar with modern CPUs BUT you should be fine since some run 2500s/2500Ks with SLI RTX 2080s

My friend was running a i5 4590 with an gtx 1060 he upgraded to a 1070(which makes no sense as he has a 1080p 60hz panel)You should still be fine with that cpu but if you can get the 4790 for a killer price then it's well worth it in my opinion

I checked the i7 4790 and the rx 580 in a bottleneck caculator, it said 0.3% bottleneck
On my current CPU it's 22%

The CPU is running on 100% and the GPU 50%-60%, games stutter alot even on low
Im playing on 720p 60hz

I agree bottleneck sites doesn't accurate test it for real world performance.Btw don't miss understood what i said.Yes the 4790 are a lot fater and if i rem correct it has HT 4c/8t but it doesn't help if you pay for instance $150 for it if you can get it cheap then by all means if you pay to much then you might as well upgrade to a ryzen cpu mobo or something

The bottleneck calculators are never accurate and IMO shouldn't be used.

You're bottlenecking because you're running on 720p.
The GPU is made for running 1080p+

Because you're on a lower resolution, your GPU is having to render more frames, which means your CPU is having to process these frames far more. Upping your resolution will mean your CPU won't have to spend so much time processing the new frames.

Upgrading your CPU will alleviate some of it because the CPU will obviously be able to process the frames quicker, but you'll still have the same issue of a wasted GPU that is putting unnecessary hassle on your CPU.
