Will these new parts work with the rest of my system?

Hi, I've got a crappy $300 computer in which I'm slowly putting new parts into. So far I've put in a new video card, and I'm looking to buy a new motherboard and CPU for it. The parts I have in mind are:

So I'm wondering if those will work with my current specs, which I'm going to link to the HP site because of some generic parts that can't be bought elsewhere

That link should be accurate, except the new video card, which I replaced the integrated graphics with. Also, I plan on buying a new power supply, so if anyone could give suggestions as to a good, fair priced PSU, that would be amazing. Also, I plan on putting this into a new case, I just don't have a link for it as it's an older case. But it's much larger than that of the current HP case I'm using.

Before you even look at anything else, I'd look at the PSU. You likely have a generic, low quality 300W PSU which, with any significant upgrades, would likely be under too much stress. Best case, it dies alone & everything else is ok. Worst case though, you could end up taking your GPU/CPU/Mobo/RAM or anything/everything else with it. I'd highly recommend you protect your build (and any new components you want to buy) with a quality PSU.

Looks like the motherboard currently is a uATX (or mATX). You've picked an ATX board - and the case is generic HP, so it's difficult to say. I'd think, if they provided a mATX board ,that's all the case can accommodate. The dimensions given are for the case, not the motherboard tray etc, so pretty impossible to know for sure. I'd be inclined to give it a 'NO' vote for the motherboard.

Any CPU will be fine, with a compatible board. If you're overclocking, you'd likely need an aftermarket cooler, which will be difficult to advise on as we can't necessarily get mobo>case clearance.

Do you have a budget in mind for a new PSU/Motherboard/CPU?

About the PSU, I had definitely planned on buying a new one, and will at the same time I buy the other parts.

Like I said, I had planned on putting these into a much larger case. And for the budget, I've linked the mobo and CPU that I"m interested in, and I asked for anyone to suggest a new PSU. So, for the mobo and CPU, around $200. Around $40 to $70 for the PSU.

If you've decided on the motherboard & CPU, then fair enough. Just ensure it'll fit in the other case you have (without knowing what it is, nobody is going to be able to tell you 100% that everything will fit). If it's an ATX case, then the ATX board will fit just fine.

As far as PSU goes, take a look at the Tier list. You'll want something Tier 1 or 2, likely around 500W - 600W.

Thanks, I wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything like that, as by the title, I more meant part incompatibilities excluding the case, but I wasn't specific.

As for the PSU, do you have any personal recommendations for a good one that would suit my system, ignoring that $70 limit?

As far as personal experience, i don't. I'm looking into a new one myself, as I didn't really go best quality. Just hoping it doesn't die on me before i get a replacement installed!

Anything Tier 1 or 2 from the list i linked, minimum 550w & id personally aim gold or up (platinum or titanium for efficiency), the EVGA i linked is a solid PSU.
