I've ordered this Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze:

My build has a Skylake i5 6600k which I would ideally like to overclock. I am using an MSI R9 390 and I have 16gb of ram with a 500gb 7200rpm HDD and a 250gb ssd.

I know it's not a great PSU, but is it good enough to run my computer to its full potential?

Can I be confident that it will last at least a few years?

Will it definitely not damage any of my components, even if the PSU itself breaks?

This is risky. Yes a good quality 600W PSU could run your setup, however your PSU isn't all that good. Will it run it to it's full potential....yes most likely. Will it last for a few years....probably not.
The problem with the CX/CXM series is the poor quality capacitors, they simply don't last long if worked too hard. When they fail anything can happen, there is always a chance of damage to your other components.
