Hi,

I wanted to buy a new cpu for a long time so am going to, but i was wondering if the amd athlon x4 860k will bottleneck with my gt610?

I am currently using a amd a4 5300, I know it probably wil not make a BIG difference. I am not planning on playing any graphic intensive games. Mainly csgo and i just wanted a slight fps boost.

thanks in advance!

There is going to be little to no fps boost really. The gt 610 is a display adaptor card not a gaming card at all. Even cs:go is asking a lot from it. I would say save your money and save up for a partially new system (or with used parts) since both your cpu and gpu are just enough for cs:go and upgrading both seperatly isn't going to do much if anything since you'll just make the bottlenecking worse.

how much of an fps boost wil it give me, because the problem is I already orderd the cpu... I can ofcourse cancel but even if I could get from my current 30 to 60 fps to 60 to 100 I wil be fine with it. I could perhabs even upgrade my gpu later (next month or so).

Return the cpu.
The socket s a dead end.

If you are playing graphics intensive games, buy a gaming oriented graphics card. GT1030 is considered as the lowest card that can be considered as gaming.

But, csgo can be cpu heavy so you really should upgrade both cpu and gpu.
You can buy a used x4-860k for about $40 on ebay if you want to try a cpu upgrade first.

I really want to keep it :/ what gpu would you suggest with this cpu. The gt1030? And what kinda fps will i have if i choose not to buy that gpu and keep the cpu.

I am not planning on buying a whole new system or mobo I just want a little upgrade. I can only play 3 maps in cs right now If i am able to get a stable say 80 fps? I will be happy with it.

I could buy the gt1030 next month, I wil have to deal with the bottleneck but that wont hurt the system or something.

I highly recommend you return the 860k as you can find used ones (or a slightly older version) for dirt cheap. Fm2 has been long dead and you are wasting your money on a cpu that can't handle new games if you ever decide to play those. As said before just upgrading one of the 2 parts isn't going to do much if anything since both are so weak.
