So im looking to build a pc this Christmas and this is the first time I have done this so I have some questions. Firstly, I have had someone tell me that I don't need the video card that i plan to get for what I plan to do? Im wondering if this is correct or not. Second of all, im just wondering if this build is good overall and if it can do what I need it to do. Finally, there are some compatibility issues if you look near to bottom of the page i will link and im wondering if this will be a major problem and can it be fixed easily.

Games I plan to play: Minecraft, Heros and Generals, League, Battlefield 4? (This is a big iffy I dunno if I could play it on this pc) So yeah! If you have any better builds for the money than go ahead and fire away!

Solution

in short , yes

dual core is dead.. next gen games are failing to run on dual cores

i3 is a dual core range

you need atleast an i5 for gaming..

to save on budget , one thing you can do is
get a 650w psu instead of 750w.. 280 can run on 650w
get a cheaper motherboard
get WD caviar blue hard disk..its cheap sometimes

Drop down too a r9 270x, and get a FX-8320 instead of a I3. And it will accomplish your needs :)

The I3 is okay, But future games will benefits more from the extra cores verse the "dual core" the I3 has.

Also a little bit of advice, I would go with a 850w PSU instead of a 750w. As for a little future upgrade is need be, You could pop in a another 270x or a 280 If you in need of a boost.

And the prices of the CPU and the GPU vary a lot with deals atm. I believe around thanksgiving, the 8320 was around 110 bucks... So yeah keep a look out :)

i canged your cpu so that it can handle the 280
