[SOLVED] Will this graphics card fit my Acer Aspire XC-885?

Hi everybody. Total computer newbie here so your advice is massively appreciated. Tried searching and googling frantically to ensure I didn't ask a silly question but couldn't find the answer for my specific computer.

As per the title, I have an Acer Aspire XC-885, it's a slimline computer. I want to put in a slightly better graphics card to run some games - nothing too sophisticated at all, hence why I'm only looking at a cheap 2GB card.

I've read about the power supply issue, i.e. that my computer has a 240w but the card needs 300w, but read quite a few posts on here saying that in reality the graphics card only consumes like 40w so it's ok.

So, will that graphics card fit? I note it's a low profile one so from a space perspective I assume it will, but I have no idea how it connects to the motherboard. Sorry for being a newbie! Thank you so much!

It'll fit but a gt710 is no better than your integrated graphics seriously!

A Gt1030 is the minimum you need for any kind of gaming.

That card will fit (Comes with a low profile bracket) and should work fine in the acer.

It's around 4 times more powerful than a gt710.

Wow, thank you for the reply! Had no idea that was more powerful, I was going off the GB figure to determine how "powerful" a card was. Clearly I was wrong haha! The game I'm playing (or struggling to graphics-wise) at the moment suggests a minimum of Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 2GB or AMD Radeon HD 7770 2GB and recommends either Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB or AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB - would the GT1030 be on par with these?

Ultimately I don't see myself doing too much gaming at all (hence why I chose the computer in the first place, primarily for office work), so don't want to spend a fortune on a graphics card. That said, I'd like one that will cope reasonably well with the odd game that doesn't require too much graphics processing.

It not an amazing card but you're limited by psu and case size, the gt 1030bwas designed specifically for your scenario which is why it's always been popular.

Its never going to tough gtx 970 or 280x performance but they're 170w gpu's, you couldn't possibly run one on that system.

You can drop resolution and/or settings and get playable fps on most games fairly easily.

Those games are at 1080p and most are fairly gpu intensive AAA titles, if you drop resolution to 720p it'll double perfoemance at the lower resolution.

Oh, sorry one more question. I run two monitors - my current graphics card has two HDMI ports. I note with the 1030 that it has one HDMI and one DVI-D - will I still be able to plug in two monitors and extend my screen like I currently do? (one connected via HDMI, the other with DVI-D)

Yes absolutely, 2nd monitor with DVI-D directly or with a DVI-D to hdmi cable if the monitor is hdmi ony.
