Will this Graphics Card work on my computer?

I have PCI express ( I am pretty sure I do, I will take another look later, but it was a pretty big slot)
I as of right now have a ATI Radeon HD 3450
6.00 GB of RAM.
64 Bit Operating System
Intel Core Quad
I want to get Sapphire Radeon HD 5670

Will it work?
and if not, can you reccomend any that will? I play games, but I don't play to demanding of games (Bethesda and Valve games mostly)

your specs are fine but whats your psu info? an hd 5670 would need about a 350 watt quality psu or 400-450 to be on the safe side, (they only draw about 86 watts though)

Nah, even a cheap 400 will do the trick, that system will have a power draw of about 200W fully loaded.

Yeah i believe so... its draw is actually around 85-100W but i have heard of many horror stories of cheap psus basically blowing up and shorting out the mobo. and it surprises me that this is too common, but you have a point, you dont need an expensive psu but if you do i recommend this one:

Beautiful Corsair CX430. 430 watts of awesome! the good thing is that its 80 certified and its super cheap.
but if you already have a 300W psu (quality one) then you're most likely safe.

Okay, so I opened my computer an looked at my PSU, and the only thing I saw on it was: Output: 350W. The stickers were all on the side facing out.
are there more stickers on the inside or is that it?

you should be good to go. The 5670 isn't much of a power hog at all.

your system is ok, but you should purchase 6850 for future games.

Any Nvidia card or ATI card will work on any board that has a PCI-E slot.


Only if you are going SLI or Crossfire you should should check the boards compatibility although it seems now the Newer board whether they are for Intel or AMD cpu's support both SLI and Crossfire. At least the good ones do.


Also just make sure you PSU is sufficient. Use the Newegg PSU calculator for a reference.

I have around 319 W, the newegg PSU power calculator said.
I hope it's trustworthy xD lol

So I'm thinking I will get the 5670, and if it doesn't work I will just
save it for a computer in the future.

Is that a bad idea? or no lol.
I mean my graphics card now is ok, so if it doesn't work I should be fine.

Well the 5670 requires 61W at full load so as long as your computer doesn't need all those 319W you should be ok. Just remember that if you feel your computer getting too hot or smell something burning lol turn it off and take the card out, oh yes also remember to choose a post to solve the answer.
