Hello all, this will be my first PC Build I have EVER done... I am new to this and would like some help. I am looking to build this as a decent gaming pc that will play Counter Strike GO at max settings at great fps (better than my laptop at 60-120 at low settings). I also play a bunch of games like Rust and Arma 3 and would just like to be able to play at high-medium settings at 1920 x 1080 at over 60 fps on any other game. I am 15 years old and would love some help and know if this would work at all. Am I missing any parts that I need? I will be getting Windows 7 or 8.1(depending on what my dad can get at work). Also I saw something about Sata cables and I don't know what those are and if I need them. Could you let me know if I would need them and link me to some cheaper ones that would work.

Here is the build - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Rr7hNG

My budget would probably be around $650 because I still need extra money for a monitor.

And also, do I need a CPU cooler. Or is that optional, as long as the pc functions safely I am fine, I don't care about noise.

Would this be a better build, would it run my games a lot better?

Also, if possible, would I still be able to use the NZXT s340 case? I really like the look of this case

Would I have to buy any sata cables or any extras, or will buying just these items be good?

Ok, sorry for all of the questions, but will this come with Thermal Paste and will I need a cpu cooler?

Since I am familiar with Nvidia more, would switching the video card to an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB Super SC ACX 2.0+ with Back Plate GDDR5 128bit, PCI-E 3.0, DVI-I, 3 x DP, HDMI, SLI, HDCP, G-SYNC Ready Graphics Cards 04G-P4-3966-KR be ok?

Will it be that big of a difference? Here is the link to the card - http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-128bit-Graphics-04G-P4-3966-KR/dp/B00UOYQ5LA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1434031545&sr=8-2&keywords=nvidia+geforce+gtx+960

Yes there would be a big difference R9 290 is much better than GTX 960.
Dont know what you mean by more familiar but its same wtih Nvidia or AMD, first you need to install GPU in the PC and when you get your PC running you download and install latest drivers. thats it

Ok, now I am going to sell my gaming laptop and then build this.

Hey I built my first PC last year and read a ton of the forums on this website and I'm happy to report everything went smooth with me. I am no expert but I built a PC that works great even a year later! So here is my advice,

First off you seem to building a d¥mid range PC form the specs you listed. Everything looks good BUT, if I were you I would recommend going intel on the CPU over AMD. And with a GTX 960 the i3 would be a killer combo. Yes even though its a 6 core vs a dual core cpu, the intel will perform better and give you better fps. The new broadwell cpu's will be out soon but honestly it'll probably be like a 5% performance boost so no need for waiting there. So I would recommend changing your CPU to this one,
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-I3-4160-Processor-Hyper-Threading-BX80646I34160/dp/B00LV8U0VE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434076370&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+i3&pebp=1434076384104&perid=BCCC55B5BE6E442DAA83

And as a result you will have to change the motherboard, I would recommend the B85 chipset as it will do more then you need for your first build and they are cheap. I personally used an Asus motherboard because all the reviews were so strong and mine has worked great! No problems thus far and a simple BIOS for a newbie. I barely used the BIOS don't let that word scare you. Anyway you should chose a case that you think looks good, fits the size you want, the price you want, and most of all, is easy to build in! I used a bitfenix prodigy which was easy, but I also like the cases that let you hide all the cables behind a wall and feed them into the computer like the corsair 200r. Anyway once you've decieded on the case choose the appropriate motherboard size (ATX, mATX, ITX) and the B85 chipset from a manufacturer that has solid reviews (like asus!)

Your ram, GPU, look good. Get the cheapest 1600 DDR3 ram you can, it's all the same, except some is shorter then other which can be handy when using a custom cooler, but I would start with the stock intel cooler.

Your power supply is way to BIG! With a GTX 960 I would get this 430w power supply, but any will do 400-500w will be plenty for your build!
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-EPS%C2%A080-certified-Power/dp/B0092ML1SC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434076989&sr=8-1&keywords=cx430&pebp=1434077009149&perid=46D7E7D495C14892A7B4

And for storage I would recommend western digital black HDD.
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS6FU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434077154&sr=8-1&keywords=wd+black&pebp=1434077158250&perid=DD4213862CCC4B7B8FCB
They are super reliable, and if you've got a little extra and SSD can be night and day on a better PC experience! Samsung evo 840 is solid in that regard.

So with all this if it was me I would choose these specs
Intel i3
Asus B85 motherboard
8gb (4x4) DDR3 1600mhz
GTX 960
WD Black 1 TB hard drive
Corsair CX430 power supply
and a case of your choice

This will be easy to build, keep a solid FPS, and hopefully give you no headaches!
My last piece of advice, watch these 3 videos they will help you visualize the whole process,
here is part 1,

If this was helpful please mark it as the correct answer! Thanks and good luck!

Hello, its me again and I haven't done anything yet, I may be able to get a little bit better computer now and all I want is to get nice frames a good amount of 60 on rust max settings and still way over 60 on cs go max settings. I also want the computer to run most other games I throw at it like ARK and others to run over 60 (maybe not on max) But would the Nvidia geforce gtx 970 be a better card than the R9 290? The gpu is the only thing I am really interested in upgrading.
