I don't think of the psu has part of "a build." You get a ten or twelve year psu, it's going to be serving you in two or three builds, most likely. Your needs will change and likely grow. If you think of it this way it makes sense to spend the extra $60 or $70 and get something like a Seasonic 850 or Corsair equivalent.

Because it's not just about having "room to grow." It's also about having your current build protected against one of the most common sources of system damage, a failing psu. A good psu is cheaper in the long run.

850W? Why? Single gpus usually top out at 300W, and cpus in the 150 range. That means single gpu systems top out at 500w. 90% of them use less than 400W. Even if you had a 500W system, loading the psu to 80% of output means you can use a 650W just fine. Nearly all of us can get away with a 550W. I used a 450W psu in my old rig and could run all video cards other than the 250-300w+ cards like the fury and 390X type cards. 850W quill be bored powering most rigs.

For the proposed rig you are looking at a 200W(ish) gpu and a 100W cpu. This means you are looking at a gaming load of <350W. A good 450W can handle this, as well of code the 550W. I'd get the 550W to handle the bigger 300W gpus. There just isn't a need for an 850W.
