Hello all,

I'm building a PC for VR and I'm getting near to the top of my budget. I've ordered an RT 2080 and core i7 9700k, but my question is about RAM. I currently have 32GB of DDR4 Ram at 2666Mhz, it is Corsair Vengeance at 16-18-18-36. I need 32GB of ram because I play DCS which is very ram hungry, and it seems to be very expensive to add another 32GB at 3000mhz. My question is, would it make a huge difference if I just use the 2666mhz for the time being?

Thanks :)

Question is do you have 1 32GB chip ? See dual channeling the RAM gives you better performance...If you have limited money you can go 16x2 or 16x4...might work out cheaper than the 32GB.

Currently I have 4 * 8 chips, all the same Corsair Vengeance. I'm not planning to overclock for a while or anything like that - if it's just a few FPS difference I won't bother, but if for example my current ram bottlenecks my RTX 2080 and 9700k significantly, I should bite the bullet..

Thanks for your response btw :)

Well your RAM is still good. I would say see how they perform with the new CPU and GPU....if its not that great run a 16x4 kit....it will work out better. 32x4 is just way over priced
