will this SLI work and do i get any gains?

Hi there Tommies! I have a question for you,
will it work if I combine my new MSI twinfrozr gtx 1060 3gb gaming x with an older MSI gtx 960 TI
if it works do I gain extra performance or FPS? If you know please let me know what I can gain from it and if it is worth it.

SLI requires the cards to use the same gpu and vram.

960 and a 1060 are different gpus and the cards will have different amounts of vram. So its a no.

Also the 1060 does not support sli

SLI is pairing 2 same gpu for more performance but it will not double your v ram and your FPS
For example you are getting 60 fps in your game adding another card does not add another 60 Fps Which means you are not getting the card full potential .

it is more harmful than beneficial it will draw more power and your bang for the buck is not guaranteed
overall buying a single powerful card is better than buying 2 weak cards and use SLI it require a special motherboard that is SLI compatible so yes more expenses than gains
