[SOLVED] will this work?

So i recently stuck a GT 710 with a core 2 duo E7500, and thought about getting better performance, since i was seeing a slip in frames because of new Roblox updates. So I am asking if going from the $7 Processor (Core 2 Duo E7500) to a $50-$60 Processor (Core 2 Quad Q9650) is a good idea. Now the system in question (yes, it's an oldie) is a Lenovo M58 type 7360, Stuffed with a previously mentioned GT 710, 8GB Of DDR3 8500U RAM, Core 2 Duo E7500, and a 280W PSU. According to the Lenovo Specification Page, it supports the 1 .Intel Q45 and ICH10DO chipset , 2. Supports Intel Core™ 2 Quad processor with 6MB or 12MB L2 cache. Is this gonna work? or am I spending alot of money on something that won't be compatible out-of-the-box. 14 year old PC nerd signing out. Thank you for the comments and answers!

Assuming you read your motherboard requirements correctly, this appears to be perfectly compatible with it as it is an Intel Core 2 Quad processor with 12MB of L2 Cache and a member of the Q45 chipset. Definitely make sure that the sockets themselves are compatible before purchasing!

Be sure to check if your heatsink is the correct type. Most pre-builts do have different heat sink designs for lower and higher wattage processors. You can use a lower wattage heatsink, but you need to make sure the fan runs at 100% all the time either via a bios fan setting or removing the pwm pin from the fan connector.
