Will USB 2.0 ports slow down game performance?

Will having only USB 2.0 ports affect my game performance? Also what type of performance will having only USB 2.0 ports affect? Are USB 3.0 ports really all that good as people say they are? It would be greatly appreciated if someone answered these questions, Thanks!
