Will VGA output work by default with no graphics driver?

I have a Sony Laptop: Model # VPCF224FX.

It has an NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M card.

A while ago, the computer dropped to the floor shattering the display but the base and the cpu and inner workings works perfectly. In fact, I have been using it as a video player for years by plugging it into my TV.

Recently the HD failed and I am having trouble installing the OS on a new drive because the display I am using to the TV is HDMI.

I believe this has to do with the lack of graphics driver?

Will the VGA output work without a driver? The Laptop has 1 VGA output and 1 HDMI output.

I am asking because I need to purchase a VGA converter but was hoping someone can tell me if this will work.

Thanks my friends.

Understood, what I am attempting to do is reinstall Windows on a new drive, then if that works, install all of the drivers.

Just to clarify, will I get video from VGA, given that there is no OS? Like boot into the BIOS?

as long as there are no issues issues, yes

Okay, I just received the VGA to HDMI converter and I am going to give this a shot.
I will post the results here to let you and other readers know what is happening.

Currently, when I use the HDMI output the screen is simply blank, in fact the monitor goes to sleep because it cannot detect a signal.

UPDATE:

Unfortunately it did not work. The VGA and HDMI are not detected.

I am not certain how I will make this work.

I am doomed!!
