Will Z97 motherboard going to get BIOS update for the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability? I have ASUS Maximus Vii Hero Z97.

Ivy Bridge and Haswell are already end of life, but Intel still support it for Spectre and Meltdown vulnerability.

I have been emailing them since January. in one email , they said they were going to create a bios, then changed their minds. I have several systems and most likely not go with Asus for future builds...

I will not going to use ASUS board on my next build as well. I will go with Gigabyte or MSI board.

Well, not that Gigabyte did offer any new BIOS version for its Z97 boards. Latest versions were around 3 years old.

so i guess we are screwed with Z97. I dont want or need to upgrade my 4790k @ 4.7ghz.....see rig in sig....

I don't see any Spectre patched BIOS' for MSI's Z97 motherboards either.

I have a GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK motherboard that has a 5 Year warranty and the last BIOS update was back in September of 2015.

I'm waiting for my SPI EEPROM programmer and blank EEPROM chips to arrive so that I can do my BIOS modding and burning without any worries of bricking my motherboards.

I see that ASRock already has public releases of microcode updated BIOS' for their Z97 motherboards.

did you you read that thread from ROG forums.... it worked on my board . i tested as well.

Your motherboard has ASUS USB BIOS Flashback. Not all ASUS Z97 motherboards have that feature.

Your motherboard has ASUS USB BIOS Flashback. Not all ASUS Z97 motherboards have that feature.

i see....i have to thank everyone from tomshardware for helping build this system and buy a great mobo on the first place!!!!

3503 bios version is out. It is a beta version but I have updated my BIOS and it works against Spectre variant 2 which I tested with inspectre
