Yesterday my PC starting acting up (links in chrome wouldn't work and I couldn't type in a file name for a word file I was trying to save) so I restarted. It booted straight into bios and then I just exited and restarted again. This time got BSOD and restarted. I have tried restoring to a prior point, repair windows, system scan from command prompt (no issues found), tried booting in safe mode and it wouldn't work. I have also done just about all hardware troubleshooting I can think of. I disconnected the secondary drive, tried a different sata port for the boot drive, tried each of my sticks of ram on their own and in different dimms, disconnected the graphics card, and disconnected everything that was connected via usb other than mouse and keyboard. I have also pulled the boot drive out and used a dock to connect it to my laptop and the drive and every file I have tried to access has been fine.

Is it possible it could be a problem with the mobo? Is there anything else I can do before I have to do a clean install? I would really prefer not to because I am a jackass and haven't done a backup in a really long time and use this computer for work. I can backup the files to my laptop since I can access the drive but instalingl all of the software again and re-configuring everything would take forever and I would like to avoid it if possible.

Thanks

And here are the pc specs if it matters:

It sounds like there's a clean install in your future unfortunately. I make full system backups with Macrium Reflect, and have never had a problem with it.
I have to comment that sounds like a really nice hardware configuration.

Yeah, I am afraid i'm going that direction. I'm sure it is just going to be a waste of time, but I am currently using my laptop to make an image of that drive. I think I am at least going to try and format and then put the image back onto it. I highly doubt it will do anything, but I am at least going to try.

I've never heard of Macrium Reflect, i'll take a look at it. I've used EaseUs in the past, but just never set up any sort of backup on this computer. I also run a file server in my house that has been having some serious issues the past year and I was waiting to sort that out before having any more backups run to it. I should have known better.

And thanks about the specs. I just built it back in June/July. I just really wish I had gone with 32 gigs of ram instead of 16. Up until now that's the only issue I have had.
