Hi.
I would like at some point to update to Win 11 but it might be a bit more work then I thought.
Firstly, I have an Asus Prime B450MA and how can I turn it into UEFI? Also, I know there is a different formet thet is required, can I formet the existing Windows 10 drive to the new formet during the Windows 11 instalation process?

Can you show screenshot from Disk Management?

Generally you'd have to use mbr2gpt utility, to convert your OS drive from MBR to GPT partitioning and make it UEFI compatible.
After that you have to change boot mode to UEFI,
enable TPM and
enable secure boot.
Then you can upgrade to windows 11.

Alternatively you can enable Secure boot and TPM and do clean install of windows 11.
This means wiping your OS drive clean and reinstalling everything from zero.

Sorry, I am unable to show screenshots right now but thanks for the info. I could probably deal with the clean install. So the conversion can be done during the Win 11 installation process?

If you go clean install path, then you wipe OS drive before install.
Use diskpart clean method. You have to press Shift+F10 to open command prompt.
Windows install process will be able to make all the necessary partitioning then.

Have only single drive connected during install. Physically disconnect all secondary storage drives.

Should this happen in Recovery? What if you clean drive with Windows while running?

The process he showed you is from the installer USB.

Here is the long version:
Boot from installer

On screen after language choice, pick repair pc, not install

Pick troubleshoot

Pick advanced

Pick Command Prompt

Type diskpart and press enter

Type list disk and press enter

This will show the list of drives currently attached to PC, make note of the drive number of the drive you want to wipe

If Disk 1 is the drive you want to clear, type select 1) and press enter. A message will confirm it is selected

Warning: Diskpart Erase/Clean will permanently erase/destroy all data on the selected drive. Please be certain that you are erasing the correct disk.

Once you sure its right disk, type Clean and press enter

The Command Prompt window will display the message "DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk". Close out of the Command Prompt window by clicking the red X in the upper right hand corner.

You can't run this from inside windows, even if you boot to windows recovery from the logon screen. Need to run off USB as it won't let you delete itself. AFAIK

Thank you, that makes much more senae to me now.

Also, what about the lossless option, that would be nicer but how complicated would that be?
