A Win2K machine I haven't used in a month seems to get stuck booting up. It
tested network connections OK then went on to

Please Wait
Applying computer settings.

It won't go past this. I tried
-Powering on and on
-The Last known Good configuration
-Booting in safe mode to a command propmt so I could start a chkdsk on the
next boot, which found nothing
-Booting in safe mode (sticks at Applying computer settings)

If this was a Win98 machine I'd just reinstall Windows 98, but I have files
I need on this drive. What would happen if I tried to reinstall Windows
2000?

What other options do I have?

Thanks,
Mich

It finally booted up after almost three hours, but was not connected to the
LAN. I moved the cables around on the hub and it suddenly started working
fine.

Thanks for your suggestions though.
