Actually i have a bit different problem, when i start windows 7 setup, it intalls upto "EXPANDING WINDOWS FILES..." after this step setup restarts the pc (laptop) but it just hangs at this point    :??: (it doesn't shutdown)... Please help me out....

Do you get to the point where you sesct the hdd to which you want to install windows to ? If you do then try formatting the drive and then see if it will install. How long do you wait for the install to continue , sometimes it can take a while for the setup to continue and you have to have patience and just let it sit there and do its thing.

Yes i had selected the boot from DVD option. when it hangs, i used to wait for 30 mins, after that i shut it down forcefully (manually).
Setup continues when i manually restart it and then the whole setup installs the windows but when i shutdown the pc it hangs at "SHUTTING DOWN WINDOWS"...
