I just upgraded to 512 of rammmm DDR and am experienceing this mem problem. I dont understand because its 512 and not anything more. I confirmed this by running both modules alone with no probs. What can i do to fix this. I've seen the microsoft support fix but it is not very clear.

Err... can you describe the problem...?

I added another stick of 256mb of pc2100 ddr ram, same manufacturer catalog number of dimm already installed, crucial. The memory registers. I ran a benchmark in sis sandra and all went okay. When i run a 3dmark2000/2001 i get crashed back to desktop or blackscreened. My 3d applications seem to be working okay except one instance where for some reason sound options were disabled in tribes2 and sound was absent during certain parts of the game. I did receive a not enough memory error when opeining a program. I ran the new module alone and the cpu ran fine without those probs. I also did this forthe previous module with same results. I tried diff. agp aperture settings and memory timings but same thing. People say its windows not handling the memory properly, but i dont have more than 512, i have 512.

I know about the microsoft workaround but I dont know how to do it. I am not too fluent in windowz. I tried the Systiem.ini by just going to sys configuration and then advanced then enable the vcache option and set to 512, but this did not solve my problem.

If your problem is mainly with 3dMark, then don't use it.

3dMark has caused machines of mine to crash in the past (usually overclocked machines, even though they worked perfectly well with every other application).

As to the loss of sound. Hmm. Sounds like it could be a 'too much memory' issue, even with only 512mb, it can be a problem.

SBLive and memory problems crop up quite frequently too.

Sorry I can't give you a solution, but if you fix it, please post. I'd like to know!
