I have bought a little USB BT dongle. I plugged it in and to my amazement it appeared as a Bluetooth device in Device Mangler. But then, less to my amazement, it does not appear as an audio device, either in the Mixer app from Windows or in the sound devices for any audio app.

It does not appear in Device Mangler with the other USB devices, but as its own group of several devices. See attached (I hope).

I cannot get my phone to see the BT device as something to pair or link with.

Sorry it seems I cannot attach stuff.

Any ideas appreciated. I have trawled the suggestions without much progress.

If its a bluetooth dongle, what do you want to connect it too? External speaker etc.?
Thanks for the (RAPID!) reply :).

Sort of external speakers: Bluetooth earbuds. There may be other things like maybe a phone for data etc. Basically I was hoping for all the things I use BT for, on my phone or tablet.

But at this stage I want to be able to listen to my PC's audio output from the other side of the room without needing speaker output from the PC.

Thanks again.

No I have not been able to connect the dongle to anything. There are no messages and no controller software on the PC to actually try to set up the dongle as a BT device, with Pair or Connect etc.

It shows as a device but with no access controller that I can see.

Basically there is no software. The drivers are supplied by M$oft and there is no proprietary controller app.

1. It should show up in device manager under bluetooth devices and be enabled
2. Go to windows services and check that the bluetooth support service is running. If it's not then right-click on it and click 'Start'
Let me know what you come up with.
