I just recently installed windows 2k, in an effort to stop quake2 from crashing in 98SE (nope!), but anyway, now i have another problem. When I boot up my computer, the monitor stays off *until* i get to the login screen, when it magically turns on. I log in and everything is fine. I can reboot, and it turns off again until it comes back to the login screen once again. It appears to stay in a standby state of some sort. I have tried searching for newest monitor drivers and it has not fixed anything.

System specs are as follows:
Geforce2 mx 400 32mb
AMD Athalon 1400 mhz
512mb ram
dx 8.1
win2k professional
hewlett packard monitor
newest drivers for monitor / vid card

home is where you hang yourself

it doesnt even come on durring post? make sure the first video device in the bios is set to what card you got, agp or pci. thats all i can think of.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal

seems an odd way to stop Q2 crashing, I'd have updated drivers first!, cant answer your question, but when I hibernate mine (on a domain with a massive roaming profile so quicker than doing a normal reboot)after the initial windows screen my monitor goes off also till I get the logon box
