I am using windows 98 as my current operating system. I've heard a lot about shifting to Win2K is supposed to stabilize the system bigtime...and avoid multiple system crashes. The point is...what exactly will i gain with changing my OS...and what will i be giving up...????
THANKS AND FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE....!!

The most simple facts are, Win2k gain = Stability, loss = speed. Win2k uses a little more resources over Win98se, and barely more than WinME. I prefer the stability over speed, but when I am playing games I prefer Win98se. Don't get me wrong, Win2k is not slow by any means, but you will need a minimum of 128mb in my opinion, preferably 192mb+, but not more than 384mb unless you really need it. If you switch to Win2K it will be more stable, but only if you get the latest drivers for your hardware for Win2k.

...and Win98/ME have DOS support. Then again most of new games support both w2k and win98/ME. At home I prefer Win98 because I like some older games. At work I think W2k is the best of M$ so far..

And they said schizophrenia is annoying?

The performance "loss" I suffered from converting from Win98 to Win2K was minimal, in game terms it was about 2 FPS so I think it's worth it for the amout of stability you will gain :)
