When I go to sounds the box for startup sound is greyed out.Cant figure out how to get it to work.The computer is about 1 month old and all other sounds work.Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help but this doesnt work.The box is checked but startup sound is greyed out with no way to change it and no sound.I know this is not a big deal but I like to hear when it has booted up.All the years I have fiddled with Windows this has never happened before.
under sound you have windws sound default then on the right of it press record under then in the bottom in the list you have open window session check the box play at start then under this in the box click on windows open session and click test sound if should play . made shure the speaker are not mute .

To the right of windows sound default there is no record button.
on the first picture the bottom sound in none this could be scroll down to the start up spound and test green arrow shoul appear like picture 2 and where you see brink-sound it shoul windows default sound this is another scroll list and save as should be click with the play sound at start up box checked . what is the virus software you use .
