I´m getting the following messages while trying to start win 7:
1) "An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
status:0x000000e
file:\boot\bcd"

2) "Following file missing:<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe"
Please, can you send me some information on what´s happening and the possible ways to fix it?
Thanks

Have you recently changed any hardware? Also could be a corrupted boot sector. Were there any recent unexpected shutdowns (power loss, BSOD)? Are there any files you want saved from that drive?

I have had this error before, and 2 things come to mind as being the issue.
1. Bad harddrive (or the starts of one), boot into safemode and run a disk scan with chkdsk
2. bad stick of ram or ram slot in Mobo.

No, I haven´t changed any hardware. The system was working ok. It´s just that one day when I turned the computer on I started getting those messages. There weren´t any shutdowns and about the files, luckily, I don´t have any important docs or files that I would like to save. In case of the boot sector has been corrupted, what can I do?

There are programs like Hiren's Boot disc that can run off the disc. If you can burn a copy of Hiren's, it has numerous utilities built in, some of which are disc scans and sector check programs. You just have to make sure you either go in to the boot menu and select your ROM drive, or change the boot order in your bios.
