Win7 to Win10 simple question

I have a laptop with windows7 pro.
It can be upgraded to windows10.

I have a newly built desktop with no OS.

Can I use my win7 pro key on my laptop to install on my new desktop pc and also upgrade my laptop to win10 while having them both be genuine?

The key of Product Key of your Laptop OS is an OEM Key(Original Equipment manufacturer). While you can use it to install your OS on desktop as well, if the online updates are working properly for some time in your Desktop without generating any Key mismatch or Non-Genuine key notifications, you will be able to upgrade your desktop to Windows 10.

Remember that Windows 7 OEM (if it is an OEM license) is tied to the motherboard so you probably won't be able to install it on your desktop unless you do some jumping through hoops, if it's the full version then you're fine. If it's a license that came with the laptop, then you're out of luck.

No, you cannot do that. Your existing key will be converted into a Windows 10 key and cannot be used elsewhere.
