Hello all. I currently have old PC parts in my closet and I have a friend who wants to get into PC gaming but I want to install windows 10. The problem is he has zero money for a windows key (its also his birthday present). I have a windows 10 installer on a flash drive but wouldn't I need a key? I have a windows 8 key that I used as mine when I first built my PC (it's currently at windows 10). I want to do this the most efficient and effective way.

Solution
No. Your Windows 8 key became your Windows 10 key. You cannot reuse it. One key - One machine. Sorry, but your friend is going to need a new Windows 10 license.

So I would use my Windows 8 Key? The installer on the flash drive was a way for me to reinstall windows clean it still asks for a key but Since I upgraded a long time ago I already had windows 10 activated so I just clicked "I don't have a product key" or something like that.
