I just ran the windows update on my win10 system to get the april update aka spring update which is available on MS site or directly windows update. Its called "windows 10 feature update" its ok, my question starts after this point, I almost got two samsung related updates, "samsung electronics ltd, Modem 5/15/2017" and "Samsung mobile mtp update" the second one is normal because I use my samsung phone to connect to my computer to charge its battery. But what in the earth that "Modem" update? I don't even aware Samsung developing Modems, I thought samsung only creates phones and SSD disks. Plus, my modem is not samsung, its a different brand from my location.

I stopped that update process before its get installed, because it made me worry if that driver can actually mess with my actual modem in some way, I do not want to lose my internet connection.

In any case, I will wait some time to get the april update, and perhaps that was a "wrong" update I was getting? It is possible that Windows update can provide me wrong-hardware updates somehow?

According to windows update catalog, that file is for Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003 - SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. WPD driver update released in May 2017

So why win 10 trying to load it? I believe it is tied to the phone, its the mobile USB driver as looking at the package, it shows the hardware it supports is USB. Maybe Win 10 was grabbing the latest driver it has for the device, even if that driver is for XP. Next newest driver is from 2011.

Do you have kies installed? Which mobile is it? what model Samsung phone?

Yes I have samsung kies software to transfer my files since direct USB does not work sometimes, and keep disconnecting my phone for no reason, its like a loop keep removing my phone from my computer and then reconnect in seconds- very annoying. I asked the same question on Microsoft Forums and some person told me somewhat same thing you said, she said its a legacy name of a driver or something

my question is solved so thanks anyway, I'm marking your reply as answer
