Hello good people.

For last 3 months I been having problem with random BSDO. It all started when I started using new USB keyboard. But i have now excluded it as reason. I have reinstalled win 10 twice. But the problem persist.

I have tried all possible solutions, did mem test and stress test. But, I didn't find it was hardware fault.

It seems to me that computer crashes when i am using you tube in edge. However, what i find most unusual is that I didn't have for 5+ days BSDO when i was using verifer on ntoskrnl.exe driver, which is main sources of crush. Sometimes crushes happen while I play games.

Anyway, I have collected all mini dump files if some could advise on the solution.

Thanks!

Solution
After four months of searching for solution to problem with my PC, it was PSS support (Performance Supported States - AMD "Cool 'n' Quiet") in BIOS setting.

Four days since I disabled this option in BIOS, I havent had BSOD.

I have tried to fix the problem with this solution, but eventually I had to disable PSS option in BIOS.

Windows 10 crashing after checking kernel & Filter Manager information - Microsoft Community

Conclusion.

If hardware checks out, and no third-party drivers the most probable cause is power management settings.

I really hope this helps you.

What are specs of the PC? the dumps will show something but not all.

ntoskrnl isn't causing the crash, its just what crashed. Often its asked to do things that don't work.
NTOSKRNL = windows kernel. It handles all driver requests, power management, and memory management. It sits between Hardware and Applications. It got blamed but its not the cause

You stand a better chance of finding errors with driver verifier if you don't point it at a windows process.

I intend to read the dump files but my Virtual machine I use to convert dumps is updating... it always seems to be updating windows.

what stress tests did you run?

Try running ddu in safe mode, remove drivers, boot into normal and maybe get older ones.

try updating Ethernet drivers - Download Win10 Auto Installation Program (NDIS) from under the windows header here - https://www.realtek.com/en/componen...0-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-pci-express-software

First of all, thank you for taking your time and effort to check my logs. If you were near I would buy you a beer. I can only say God bless you and your family.

Now to answer your questions.

a) Yes, I know, you are right. But there were no many non Microsoft drivers to choose from. List of current drivers in link. Still 5 days without BSOD. That is what is bothering me.
b) I did Memtest 86 (minimuim 8 passes for each modul and 4 passes together). and Prime 95 test (but I didnt do it long because processor temperature was getting too high. Maybe 5-7 minutes. I didn't want to risk.

Already installed new Ethernet drivers.
Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller - 10.66.621.2023 - 21.6.2023. Before your post.

So to try and install older nvida drivers? May 2023?

The computer has been working all day after todays BSDO (29.08.) No problems. I even played the last of us of for few hours. Nothing.

Prime 95 test (but I didnt do it long because processor temperature was getting too high. Maybe 5-7 minutes. I didn't want to risk.
thats not even close to long enough for Prime 95, it can run for a day or so.

Nvidia drivers - how often do you normally update them? I find it doesn't always help to be on the latest drivers if you on an older card. You could run ddu and instead of getting drivers from Nvidia after, run windows update and let it find drivers. They still from Nvidia, just older.

What PSU do you have? Its about only stat you missed.

how old is that mouse? I didn't know MS still made sidewinders, I had one years ago. Could just be using its drivers I guess.

AMD Ryzen 5 3500 clocked at 4.10 GHz
I wish they would fix it so windows doesn't think Ryzen CPU always running at max speed. Expect it thinks mine is 4.5 even though its never that speed.

I can see driver list on the dumps, the only ones that you have that I didn't suggest an update for were Sound drivers from Realtek and AMD chipset drivers.
I generally leave sound drivers alone as they can be messy.

Only get the chipset drivers, you don't need raid or Storemi - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/b450 - its possible you have these already, as AMD drivers packages contain multiple drivers, and they don't always update all of them in a pack. I can see a new program in latest that I don't see on your listing.

Hello.

About stress test. - OK, thanks for the info. I did not want to take risk. When I saw red temperature numbers in HW monitor, i stopped the test.

Nvidia drivers - Before all this, I did not pay attention. Now I try to regularly update drivers. Computer is exactly 1 year old .That will be next step. Last night I did the update. So I use program DDU to uninstall Nvida driver and let Win 10 automatically install Nvida drivers. It is new card. Gainward. (Pegasus, I think). And the next step will be to try win 11

Soundriver - Realtek Semiconductor Corp., 9.5.2023. version 6.0.9514.1. I guess it is OK. It is getting really difficult to find appropriate drivers (with exception of Nvidia).

AMD chipset, I did update last night, but I don't think any real update took place. I got like 5 or 6 drivers to install/update, but I think versions were same when comparing with device manger. CPU -Z still flags that I don't have latest version for this driver. FCH SMBus Controller (current: 5.12.0.38 from 09/15/202, proposed 2.0.0.14 from 07/18/2023. - amd_chipset_software_5.08.02.027.exe

PSU is ARGUS. 620 W (may be I should check it again :) Worst case it is 420 W.

I guess the mouse is more than 15 years old. :) It is Sidewinder.
