It will be compatible because you can always play the game in compatibility mode. Get windows 10 free while you can.

see, thats not a foolproof option... but an interesting thought occurred to me... if they give it to you for free even if you pirate windows... why don't i just get by telling them thats what i did instead of possibly having a non working computer (if it doesn't do what i want, its non working)

You know, you can always dual boot your computer. I did this when windows 7 came out because i needed some custom programs which only worked on XP and not windows 7 64bit.

So sign up, get the windows 10 license, set your pc up for dual boot. Then say 3 years from now a game only works on DX12, you at least have the option of booting into Win10 and playing it.

I'm probably going to try Windows 10 on my laptop for a while before even considering using it on my desktop. While my laptop is only DX10, it will be interesting try out the interface. I've been trying to keep an open mind about Windows 10.

Assuming Windows Phone 10 becomes available for my Lumia 822, I will upgrade that as well. 8.1 was months behind for it due to Verizon having issues with their crapware, so they held up the update for apps that I don't even use.

Let's hope 4k support is natively built in. I'm sick and tired of working Windows 7 SP1 with text set to 150% just to make it half usable.

In my experience on the Sp3, it's an issue of third parties, not MS. Except skype. That's MS' fault, and why I am waiting for Tox to mature.

I'm curious what happens when I install a new or replacement boot drive? Do I have to pay for a new license? Do I get some sort of heritage account under my name that allows me one PC running at a time with W10? The timing of W10 release appears to be about the same time as the faster PCIe/ M.2 drives will hit the stores which should make for excellent boot drives.

What happened to windows 9? Oh i forgot uncle fester, the failed former CEO of windows got US$20billion dollars. I guess that is okay for most folks because they are way too stupid to understand the implications. You fail and you get your a++ kicked to the kerb.

Clone your old boot drive over to the new one.

Or if you're talking about when your hard drive fails, then just reinstall your old OS and upgrade again. But i'm sure they'll tie it all into windows live again somewhow, you can probably download or create a restore DVD or fresh format DVD. Apple allows you to do that.

Like I say to every news site ever, if you consider yourself a global news provider, please stop saying "Summer of" and dismissing the whole southern hemisphere. It's summer now.

Autumn in australia :)
