I've been having a problem recently where my computer will sometimes turn off after coming out of sleep mode then will have real trouble turning back on. when I try to turn it back on the fans spin up, the tower lights up and everything seems normal except the monitor won't turn on and the lights on my mouse and keyboard won't turn on. I might have to turn it on and off several times for it to start.

I don't know for sure if this is related but this started after I updated to windows 10 from 7. I'm also not sure if this has anything to do with it but whenever I try to do a search in settings it says "search results aren't quite ready yet,but we're working on getting them together. try back in a few minutes".

I have an ASRock Z87 Extreme4 mobo ,I5-4670k and GTX 970. I've looked around and have no Idea what's happening and could really use some help.

Solution
one way i found to fix the monitor not waking up after sleep is just not use sleep and set monitor to always be on if PC is

right click start menu
choose power options
choose change plan settings next to your current plan
set monitor & pc to never turn off while plugged in (this only applies to sleep, they shut off if you want them to)
in advanced power settings, find your hdd listing and set Turn off hard disk after to never

think you could still set a screensaver if you don't want desktop on all time.

as for second problem, try doing this: https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/how-to-solve-windows-search-issues-index-rebuild/

I found search never worked after my upgrade last year but did after I fresh installed Win 10 instead...

Solution
I was also having trouble with my computer awaking from sleep mode. This is a newly built windows 10 Pro 64 bit with Ryzen 1600 and MSI X370 motherboard and a GTX 1080ti. The solution was the default setting in the BIOS where it had nothing selected to wake the system from sleep. Once I selected the option to wake from USB device and saved and exit, it now works perfectly every time. There were also other options like wake from a PS2 device, etc.
