Windows 10 crash

I have a Hard drive crash during a windows 10 update which will not allow me to reboot or access the drive. I can, however, access the drive as an external drive on another computer. Is it possible to do a system restore or reload windows on the external drive, then reinstall in othe computer

It sounds plausible, as long as the System Restore works form the affected HD, and not from the PC it is hooked up to.
