[SOLVED] Windows 10 defrag and trim

what is the difference between defrag and trim...as someone has said on this forum that win 10 just trims does not defrag...and at which time win 10 performs this action as there is no time set available or shown in the defrag setting option. and if i set it on daily operation is it ok or can be harmful.

defrag refers to a mechanical hard drive and trim refers to the optimization of an ssd or solid state drive.

Yes.
And the OS is smart enough to know the difference, and which to apply to which type of drive.

And Defrag is run once a month on any SSD used as boot drive in win 10... just to break the rules.

Win 10 defrags the area used by shadow copy which is also known as System restore. But only once a month, rest of the time it leaves it to TRIM.
