Windows 10 failing on update

For the last year or so, Windows likes to randomly crash on me. There was never a rime or reason to it. I've tried to install the newest service pack/update but it never gets to 90% without crashing on me. It gave me the BOD with error "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" I did some digging, and it seems indicate a faulty driver.. My Graphics card drive is update to and I'm pretty good at making sure it stays updated.

I'm thinking if it is indeed the problem, then perhaps a clean install of the graphics driver would work. If this is the case, do I manally download and update the drivers, like I typically do, or should I let Windows find and install it's own drivers ?

Thanks!

Hello jrviolette

I would suggest to download the graphics driver manually from the vendor's official website, and then try installing it on your Windows.

Also, please download not only the latest driver but an earlier version as well. This is because sometime the most recent driver fails to perform correctly due to hardware incompatibilities but an earlier version does a pretty good job.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!! :)

I did a clean install of my drivers, after removing all traces of the old drivers. Tried the upgrade again, and it crashed once again. The Media creation tool was being difficult as well with me, and didn't want to make a new bootable USB drive... I ended up doing with Rufus and a Windows ISO I downloaded from Mircosoft. I've ran SFCFix and sfc /scannow, and it comes back clean. No corrupt system files.

My drivers are up to date, as I do it manally from the Mobo's website. I have also done a Mobo bios update.
