For unknown reasons, yesterday I lost all customizations I had done to make File Explorer in Windows 10 look and behave like Windows 7.

One change I can't get rid of is that everything in the navigation pane turns into a blue underlined link when you hover over it.

Any way to get rid of that?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro version 2004. build 19041.1237.

Thanks.

There are valid reasons I'm not on 21H1.
Reasons such as...?

Win 10 update versions are only support 18 months back. 3 Upgrades.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-10-2004

"Current status as of October 21, 2021:
On December 14, 2021, all editions of Windows 10, version 2004 and Windows Server, version 2004 will reach end of servicing. After that date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates containing protections from the latest security threats."

You probably need to format and reinstall on the latest operating system and then if you still have problems you have hardware issues

The problem I had earlier this year followed an update from version 1909 to 20H2. I think skipping 2004 may have been part of the problem: I think it may have just been too many updates all at once.

I reverted to 1909, tried again, and it's been stable on 2004 ever since.

Can we see a screencap of this?

Hopefully you'll be able to see this.

What "customizations" have you done on this Win 10?

Nothing drastic: I mostly use Ultimate Windows Tweaker and 3rd-party programs like that to get Windows 10 to look and behave more like Windows 7: start menu (no tiles), Win 7 style Explorer and taskbar, etc.
