Dual booting a fresh install of Windows 10 next to Windows 11 to try to fix many many problems with Izotope RX software
seems it uses some VMware virtualization to install it or something

anyways I got Windows 10 installed to try that instead and no luck with Izotope, but Windows 10 has the old taskbar at least

I did Windows Update after installing Izotope RX and the computer booted to a black screen with the cursor
Oh and there's this audio drivers fix on these laptops: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/nqtgr1/1_second_delay_in_audio_start_on_headphones_with/
That's all i've done. Installed two other basic software.
I tried rebooting, and it did some Diagnostics loading but then back to the black screen again
should i just leave that sit for an hour?
I tried SFC /scannow in CMD on boot options but after loading it gave some error saying it doesn't have permissions or something
it didn't give boot options like it usually asks which Windows partition to boot
I managed to get that under the other menu pressing f12

so... Windows 11 is able to boot
I could delete the other partition anyways
Izotope won't even export a project file...tons of errors on it at various times and why this project file is finished...can't even export it no matter what i do. Customer Service suggests reinstall in Safe Mode, etc etc
it won't export this specific file, i am saying. had been getting some errors before that, and previous problems.
i've tried reinstalling a recent previous version of it, reinstalled Windows, etc etc etc
so today yet another problem

As for Windows, I could delete this other partition that won't properly boot, unless anyone has a quick fix
been trying to read a bit on fixes
And no, I didn't get a system restore point for it yet unless any comes by default when installing

Maybe get a Mac!

Make sure you have nothing plugged into the laptop except the power cord. Unplug any drives, printers, etc. as they can sometimes cause boot up to hang thinking that you are trying to boot from a USB drive or something. I've encountered many scenarios where people leave printers plugged in and OS boot will hang because the system detects the external USB port on the printer as a device.

literally nothing plugged in
i read a suggestion about that also

i have the laptop even unplugged from power
no headphones plugged in

Interesting. You might try booting into Windows 11, go into MSConfig and click on the Boot tab. Make sure there isn't anything funky in there.
In the Windows 11 boot, it has selective startup set with
Load System Services
Load Startup Items
And unchecked is the use original boot configuration

The boot tab shows Windows 10 is the default

Msconfig is what I've been using to do Safe Mode
But then after I reboot after that to go back to regular boot, it's still on Safe mode or selective startup or something
But right now it's booted just fine
I just sometimes have to remember to go back to Msconfig

So you are able to get it to boot into Windows 10 if you use MSConfig do to so? and if you don't use MSConfig, that's when you get the blinking cursor?

Sorry just clarifying.

I wasn't aware I could boot to the other from Msconfig (how? I'm still not seeing where to click to boot other partition? Or it doesn't?)
I just opened it again and now it's showing the other install as Windows 11
I recently had a separate Windows 11 partition I deleted and I may have deleted it in Msconfig at some point

I'm not seeing Windows 10 in the list now
Just a second one of Windows 11
But it said Windows 10 before

I guess I'll just reinstall it
I literally just installed it today again to test this other software
I could free up space and delete it

Was just considering if it was some easy fix
This might be a bit further gone

It's been a while duel booting but correct me if I'm wrong didn't the older OS need to be installed first than newer OS last. Maybe why 10 is hanging ?
Ok reinstalled Windows 10
And Update failed to download
I rebooted again after update, this time again
And same exact black screen

F12 goes to a blue menu screen
F8 just goes back to the same blue menu screen immediately like it refresh
And from that menu pressing F12 reboots to the black screen

Oh hmm now it's booting??
Updates is going

Not sure how to get back into the Windows 11
ok somehow got booted to the original...
i hope there's not a problem with anything...i could maybe just delete the Windows 10

On a sidenote, on the main Windows 11, the Run dialogue box doesn't open some apps such as Notepad
this was happening before and I found some info on resetting the Windows apps through Powershell or something, reinstall it all or whatever
but that didn't work

I got Windows 10 booted somehow
but MSConfig on Windows 10 i try to delete the third item is a Windows 11 that has no Drive Letter, and set default to the Main Windows 11 that is still installled not the orphaned one or whateverr
then i switch to the General Tab to deselect Selective boot, to regular
switch back to the tab again....i even did this a few times and hit apply...it is not holding the settings in MSConfig
and like I've mentioned, even when I set safe mode, etc...it boots into Selective boot again indefinitely until I deselect in MSconfig

not a big deal i guess
just not quite sure if everything is working ok for now...maybe
um
like Windows 11 my printer stop working properly and had to contact tech support
somehow the computer rebooted to WIndows 10 like i said
so it's a bit messy...not sure what this machine is doing

seems to be running mostly ok
somehow the Windows 11 rebooted itself and was on Windows 10 the next day
and each day I have to keep setting the Windows 11 clock again is set wrong, again, again

wondering how to troubleshoot anything with this Izotope RX software too, but that's a whole other thing
it said VMWare or something during the install, and it's giving errors to save files or load some parts
one project file opens fine but gets corrupt or something because it refuses to export
i might post a thread about it, just in case anyone has some idea or input
